A Day in the Life Of...(a Date with the Hubby!)

I just love reading about how other people's days look like.  I did a Day in the Life Of... back in late January, but decided to do one showing what a day on the weekend looks like with Todd.

This past Saturday, Todd and I had no other plans than to spend time with one another.  This is how our Saturday, February 23rd looked like.

I would like to preface this post with the fact that Todd and I both ate 1/2 a cantaloupe (or more) each before going to bed.  Needless to say, I was up at 1:30, 3:45 and 5:45 going to the bathroom!  Note to self: If you are going to eat nearly a whole cantaloupe, do it before 5PM!

That being said, this is what our day looked like:

This is the last picture I took for the day because as we were finishing the movie around 8:30, I had my eyes closed and my ears plugged with my fingers so the movie wouldnt scare me, but I ended up falling asleep!  Oops.  Todd told me the end the next morning.

The reason I listed the amounts we spent is to document how much we spend when we go out on a "date" every month or every other month.  We take pride in how little our "dates" cost.  This date cost us $24.91 total for lunch, movie and ice cream!

So, there you have it.  A day in the life of us when hubby doesnt have to work on a weekend, we go on a date, and we relax the rest of the time.

  1. I love your chicken 'rainbow'! So colorful! (We got 5 grown hens this week...3 red, 1 gold, 1 speckled, now we're anxiously awaiting eggs!!)

And, under $20 at Olive Garden, including tip is amazing.

    1. I like looking at chickens with their bottoms up - it makes me smile. I cant wait to see your new hens and I hope you get some eggs soon!

We like the all you can eat soup and salad, one of the least expensive items on the menu. Our bill was $15.11 before the tip. What can I say? We're cheap dates! :-)

  2. I love how cheap that date was!!! Very inspiring. Did you have coupons or are you just smart about what you buy?

    1. We know which places in our area that are the least expensive and have good food. Olive Garden is one of them for the all you can eat soup and salad. Another inexpensive place is Cracker Barrel for us. We get nothing but water when we go out (with lemon so we can make our own lemonade) and there are no desserts or appetizers. Another favorite of ours is a hibatchi place. We buy the Entertainment Book every year (when it is on discount with free shipping in Feb or March) just so we can go to this place 3-4 times and get the BOGO meal. We get sesame chicken, but it comes with soup, salad, a few pieces of shrimp, fried rice and a scoop of ice cream: for $15! Wow. As I type this, I realize how over-the-top we are. Oh well. :-) That is just us. ((Please note that once in a blue moon, we go out and spend $50+ on sushi at a top-notch sushi bar or go to a steakhouse to get whatever we want. For the most part, we keep it simple by going out for lunch and to one of 4 or 5 places we know have the best prices and the tastiest food.))
